Announcing after a year of planning SupExplore Sydney, Adventure Concept Paddle # 4. The circumnavigation of the Sydney basin. In a world first adventure I plan to SUP 350km and portage 50km in a two week period commencing March 2nd. I am inviting people to support me for this ground breaking journey in support of Tangaroa Blue and the Australian Marine Debris Initiative. Please my friends share this important news and get behind and support these great Ocean causes.
" To Paddle for Pure Pleasure is smart training "
After a big paddle we need to be smart. Try a "Recovery Paddle" Instead of letting the torn muscles heal tight, "Paddle for Pure Pleasure" and remind the muscles to heal in the way that you want to use them. Be gentle. To recover is smart training.
" Find your "Flow Zone" and stand in it"
All great athletes have flow. They are defined by how many muscles they can relax, not how many
they tense. Yes it seems counter intuitive. Picture the greatest athletes, they do amazing things with“EASE”. Yes the art is sending the right amount of energy to the right place at the right time while all else is relaxed. No waste, the body is flow and relaxation.
I describe myself as a holistic paddle coach, well because I can. It is not all how fit or strong you
are. There is the secret, it is about flow. In summary feeling the water, its moods, ebbs and flows and getting in touch with an intuitive paddle rhythm that sits inside us. It’s there so look for it and once there stand in it.
Instead of making a goal to go fast or to attain a certain average speed make a goal to get into the zone of the ocean and your body. Aim for relaxation and rythym and sync with the water. This can be used in ultra-distance paddles or in stroke correction.
We are excited to announce SupExplore Sydney - The First Circumnavigation.

"Train as if your Race depended on it"
Simulate your race. Wake up think race, prepare gear think race, enter location think race, warm up think race, start line think race, race think race, celebarate think race. Train like you want to race and you will race like you train. The brain does not know the difference between a smulation and the real thing. The brain can be trained.
"Paddle to Live another day"
Sometimes conditions are just dangerous. Going out disrespects the ocean and those that rescue. If you go where conditions say NO then if something goes wrong the finger will be pointed at YOU. If you get the vibe "NO NOT TODAY" listen to it and choose a "SAFETY PADDLE". Be creative and choose another route. Just remember it is safer at the pub.
"to train is easy, to Truely rest is an art"
Got caught out again today and my body fell to bits. Doing to much on the land and the water. Time to reflect and prune my life. Make room for fresh growth. We are so good at doing things.
How about doing rest well ?
I tryed something new today, going for a Rest Paddle, looking for rythym and relaxation only.
"When we paddle we leave ripples"
We do not always know where they go nor what they do. Some find your ripples annoying and a problem and may lose balance and fall off. Others find the ripples a help and try to catch your ripple and use them for ripple training. Others do not notice them at all. Life is like that. Do your best to leave as many "Positive Ripples" as you can think of.
